Shop-Small Gift Guide Part 2: Gifts for Travelers, Road Trippers & Free Spirits
What type of gift do you get a wanderer or a free spirit? She's on the move and has to be selective about what she brings along. Shopping for her can be tricky but lucky for us, I spent 8 months traveling with little more than what I could fit in the trunk of my car. I know a thing or two about choosing functional items that are versatile. And best of all, these gifts are exclusively from small businesses and handmade makers! Click the titles for links to the websites of each seller.
Fair Trade Bags
These bags are made by MZ Fair Trade, a company that works with weavers and artisans in Oaxaca to bring us these beautiful works of art. I have one, and can attest they are durable and well made. This backpack is great for someone traveling light, while the tote is best for someone bringing along a laptop or mobile business. These are available on their website or Sonoma County locals can visit the Boho Bungalow, they have the tote in stock!
Feather Charm Bracelet
This bracelet is perfect for the lightweight traveler. It is made with durable stretch elastic making it easy to wear everyday. The design is inspired by my travels. The feather symbolizes freedom and strength, while the vibrant colors can be worn day or night. I bet she'll never take it off! At only $24, it's a perfect stocking stuffer for the easy-going girl. These ship out next-day, and I'll even gift wrap it for you!
Moccasins by Poppy Von Frohlich
When I was traveling, my moccasins were my most worn shoes because they are lightweight, comfortable and versatile. The durable materials can take you from cityscape to campground and are perfect for driving (roadtrip, anyone?!) These moccasins are handmade in Sonoma County and available online.
Leather Cord Holders by Keyaiira
Keyaiira is a Sonoma County based maker who specializes in these functional, customized organizers. I have two of these (one for my laptop, and one for my phone charger) and I can say, I absolutely love how they keep my cords organized. Long gone are the days of pulling a tangled mess out of my purse. Get her initials or name stamped on it to make it a truly personalized stocking stuffer.
Pins by Eradura
These pins are a perfect gift for a girl on the go because they can be easily fixed to a bag or jacket and taken everywhere. The modern designs bring an artistic touch to an age-old gift. These are the perfect stocking stuffers. They're made in small batches, so be sure to grab it while you can!
Blanket
When traveling frequently you end up spending nights in different beds (or campsites, couches and hostels). How comforting would it be to bring a piece of home with you? These cozy blankets are all available from the Boho Bungalow online and in their two Sonoma County locations. They're all small throw size that can fit easily in a duffel or suitcase.
Scratch-Off Map
Seriously, how perfect is this scratch-off destination map? These are made in the USA and available on Etsy from Kristin Douglas. Every destination can be scratched off similar to a lottery ticket, revealing beautiful artwork underneath. You'll find maps of all sorts in her shop: USA, international, and different colors. I can't think of a better way to celebrate travel than one of these interactive gifts.
